How is the value of my device determined?

A number of factors go into determining the value of your device including the condition of your device, any required repairs, as well as demand for resale for that particular device, capacity and colour. We regularly review the prices we pay to ensure you get the best price for your device.

 

What kind of devices do we buy?

Dr Phonez will evaluate and potentially buy any smartphone or tablet, including all iPhones, iPads, LG, Google, Huawei and Samsung devices. Even if it is broken. If a device is not deemed acceptable for purchase we will happily take the device and properly wipe and recycle it for you, and give you a $10 in-store credit.

What stores accept devices for me to sell?

All of our stores will buy your old smartphones and tablets.

Will I receive cash on the spot?

Yes we also offer cash payouts.

Will I have to show identification?

Yes, we require identification for all devices we purchase from customers.

What do I need to do prior to bringing my device in?

We recommend you back up your device and wipe it yourself, as well as removing any accounts and security features like “Find my iPhone”.

Do I need to bring in the charger and manual?

No, you can keep your charger and recycle any materials that came with it.

I do not live near a Dr phonez location. Do you accept devices by mail?

Yes, we accept devices by mail also.

I need to manage the prepaid Visa card I got for selling my device. Where do I do that?

Should I wipe my data before I sell my phone?

When you sell us your phone we will wipe all of your existing data for you. This will ensure that the next owner can use it without any trouble. All you need to do is backup your data and we will take care of the rest!

How do I back up my data?

For iPhones, backing up your data through iCloud is the safest and easiest way. To do this, turn on iCloud Backup and it will automatically do so. For on-the-spot backup, select the Back Up Now option. For Androids, simply go to the Settings app and select Accounts then Backup. From there, you’ll want to click Backup and Restore. If you’re unsure, ask one of our customer service representatives or come into the store and our expert technicians will gladly help you.

What precautions should I take before selling or trading my phone?

Make sure that any passwords or stored credit and debit card numbers are removed. Unpair any outside devices such as Bluetooth headphones, a smartwatch, speakers, etc. You may also disinfect your device before selling or trading. This can be done using alcohol-based wipes or sprays, containing 70% alcohol.

How do I remove a SIM card?

Removing a SIM card is a straightforward process. First, remove any exterior case that’s protecting your phone. While every device is different, look for a rectangular outline on the side of your device with a tiny hole inside. Insert a SIM card eject tool into the small hole and it should pop open. Remove your SIM card and push the slot back into place.
